| The Montezuma Fire Protection District is a full service organization providing fire response, limited hazardous materials response, full vehicle extrication, and 24-hour basic life support services. The District performs fire code plan checks, inspection, and enforcement; participates in educational activities to increase community awareness of fire safety and prevention; and conducts fire investigations within its jurisdiction. The Department services the City of Rio Vista, including the airport, and contracts with the Delta Fire Protection District to extend fire services coverage to the Delta communities. The Montezuma Fire Protection District most current ISO Ratings are: Outside of 5 miles of the City Limits - Class 9 Within 5 miles of City Limits - Class 8B Ryer Island Fire District - Class 9 |
| Montezuma Fire District covers approximately 150 square mile of mostly farmland and pastures lands. Montezuma is a combination department with a paid Fire Chief 1 paid Assistant Chief , 1 Volunteer Assistant Chief, 4 Volunteer Captains, 5 Volunteer Engineers and 17 Volunteer Firefighters. (See Personnel) January 1, 2004 Montezuma started contract fire services with Ryer Island Fire Protection District which covers approximately 25 square miles. Montezuma runs out of seven stations in which four are in Montezuma Fire District and three on Ryer Island. (See Map) |

| Montezuma Fire District is in the process of adding a new Water Tender to our fleet replacing our 1976 Kenworth. Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton Wisconsin is building a new Pumper/Tender for us. Crews fly out on January 15, 2008 to do the final inspection on it. This custom Pumper/ Tender is being built on a T800 Kenworth, has a 1000 GPM pump and roll Waterous Pump, 3000 gallons of water, 40 gallons of Class A foam. Will carry a 3000 gallon porta-tank and portable pump. Has front spray-bars for mobile attack if needed. Also will equiped with a remote Masterstream |
